Proof Summary In the First council of the Seventy records, Harvey Fairchild(s) is recorded as being 21 in 1844 born on April 7th which means that he was born 7, April 1823. Also, His obituary says he was 61 in January of 1885 which means that he was three months short of his birthday in April when he would have been 62, which means that he was born in 1823.

Proof Summary Harvey Henry "Harry" Fairchild's obituary says "Death of a Veteran." "Died, on Sunday last (11, January 1885), of consumption at his residence in this villiage (meaning Grand Ledge, Eaton, Michigan), Mr. Harry Fairchild, aged 61 years. The deceased was a soldier in the Mexican war for two years and served four years in the Rebellion, being 1st Lieut. In the 10th Wisconsin regiment. He wa confined in diferent prisons of the south for twenty-two months. Deceased was a member of Earl Halbert Post No. 108, G. A. R. (Grand Army of the Republic), which organization was very active in providing for the needs of their afflicted comrade. The funeral ceremonies were held at the M. E. church Tuesday a. m. according to the G. A. R., usages, and were very impressive and interesting. The services were conducted by Rev. B. S. Pratt, assisted by Rev. F. Flemin." This obiturary is evidence for the death date of Harvey being on 11 January 1885. There is a death record for a "Harry Fairchilds" found at URL http://www.mdch.state.mi.us/gendisx/scripts/individual.asp?UniqueID=481163, that says Harry Fairchilds died 16 January 1885. They might have gotten the information from this obituary which came out on the 16 of January 1885, but the original source for this information will need to be found.
